Practice Note | Policing & Command Environments
Purpose of this Note
This Practice Note examines how command-level leaders may apply a Psychological Leadership lens to organisational visibility regarding cumulative operational and organisational strain. It explores how command leaders receive, interpret, prioritise, act upon and review organisational information as part of Psychological Leadership within policing systems.
Practice Insight
Psychological Leadership at command level is not primarily concerned with encouraging leaders to care more about personnel. Rather, it provides a framework through which cumulative operational and organisational strain becomes more visible within organisational decision-making. Through this lens, command leaders may interpret workforce indicators, operational pressures and organisational signals in ways that support workforce sustainability alongside operational effectiveness.
